Comment from Dr. Mladenoff
The first 12 hours after head trauma is the peak of TNFa production along with neuronal loss and increased astrocyte number AND elevation in apoptotic death at 72 hours. It's not just a bump on the head. Within 72 hours brain cells are dieing. It is imperative to begin treatment to prevent TNFa elevation in the first 12 hours.
Cognitive problems that are present at 7 days post trraum can be prevented by intervention within the first 12 hours after head injury.
