Comment from Dr. Mladenoff
Cranial acupuncture was added to a drug based treatment protocotol for cerebral hemorrhage. Treatment started 4 days post trauma.
Subjects were treated 1x/day for 10 consecutive days.
IL-6 was measured before treatment began and at the conclusion of 10 day treatment protocol.
There was a significant decrease in IL-6 in the acupuncture treated group. This is of great importance because a high enough elevated IL-6 immediately after head trauma is an indicator of a potential ominous event. This finding indicates that cranial acupuncture is a valuable addition to head traum treatment protocols.
In addition there was also significant improvement neurological function scores.
